Best Fuel Coating to Prevent Corrosion

Thanks to all in advance for any thoughts shared. I have two aluminum tanks out of my 23' Sceptre for inspection; tanks check-out great and now want to coat/paint them prior to re-installing.

What is the consensus on best coating/paint system for aluminum tanks for preventing corrosion and pitting?

first:

clean,scuff sand,then chemically etch prime the aluminum - I use and have used interprotect 2000 for the last 20yrs

Aren't you restricted to products that can be applied with Pom Poms?

How old are the tanks? for example, If they are in great shape with no coating and their 15 years old Id leave them alone.

Thanks to everyone for the replies; very helpful and very much appreciated. Doing a bit more research on the coal tar vs. Interprotect 2000.

Chance, the tanks are 10 years old (I had them made) and look remarkably good. However, some of the original coating (not sure what it was) has failed and want to get them right before they go back in the boat.

Hookdude, did not know you had a sodablaster and will take you up on he offer; I owe you a couple of Zima's.

coating failed :

look at aluminum - it's clean shiny yes ?

the coating failed,due to poor prep
remember that whole.scuff sand,clean,chemically etch prime ? if those steps were followed,that coating wouldn't have failed

aluminum needs to be chemically etch primed,before anything is applied to it - fail to follow that.your coating will fail...
