I used t on a silverton I had it looked great at first then after about a year in thebflorida sun it didn't look so great

But compared to wax, how did it hold up? The Poly Glo instructions say it should be reapplied about once a year. If you lay on a few extra coats it will last two years.

As jerry1 said, the key is the prep. If you have heavy oxidation, you can wet sand it with 800 grit and and then apply the product. If you don't get through the oxidation before you apply, you'll just have shiny oxidized gelcoat.

It's basically tile floor wax, acrylic. I'm not a fan personally, lot of mixed results.

Im not a fan of it either,it will make your boat shine but its basically just a cover up and down the road you will probably regret it, it looks real funky as it wears and its a nightmare to get off and then your right back at square one.

Just like brightwork, it must call you every spring or not.

It can be great or not.

I`ve seen it done well. It is nice. If you pass a year without re-coating say darn.

I've used it for almost 5 years and it's so easy to use, I'll never wax again! I posted something here on it, maybe about 4 years ago. Collinite paste wax is the best I've found but even it will only last 3-6 months in the S. Fla. sun!

You have to clean the surface really well before you apply it because whatever is under it will be there for at least a year! The first couple of coats will have some streaks, but it looks great after about 6 coats. It lasts 1-2 years on my boat depending on sun exposure; I park boat beside the house where it's partially shaded and I keep a cover on it to protect the topsides, but I use the boat at least once a month and often take it on trips of 1-2 weeks duration. After a couple of years it will start to streak, so all you have to do then is add a few more coats until the streaks are gone. No need to strip it off unless you've got some dirt or scrapes on it that won't come off otherwise. It does a pretty decent job of protecting the gel coat and some scrapes or marks come off easily that would otherwise require rubbing compound to remove. Some cleaners like Simple Green will partially remove it if used full strength. If you leave it out uncovered in the bright sun all day, you'll probably have to give it a couple of coats every year. My boat still has the original ~40 year old gel coat, and most folks that have seen it will say it looks fairly decent. Blue Heron started using it after he saw my boat. I was particularly pleased with how the cabin top came out because I purposely did not wax it for about 35 years since I didn't want a slick surface up there for kids to slip on. The gel coat up there is pretty thin and porous, but haven't had any kids up there for quite a while so decided to give it a try, and I was amazed at the results. Doesn't look as good as a new paint job, but it's a LOT cheaper, so I figure that makes it a pretty good bargain! Denny

mine did get alot of sun and i only did the topsides. could have used more coats as time went on
