My new 73' 20SF
Hi everyone. I bought my Seacraft 20sf last week. It has a soft floor that will be taken care of soon. It also has bottom paint, I am contemplating the best way to handle that.
So far I had the impeller changed, all fluids freshened up, new filters, new belts and plugs. Compressions checks out perfect with only 5psi spread. My mechanic was amazed at what good condition the motor is in and how little corrosion. Here are some pics that the seller took of the boat. By the way great guy to deal with. Going for my first run in a little while. I hope i dont need sea tow but I have it if I need it. Get ready for lots of questions as the boat gets restored. |

very clean - I have heard walnut shells on the bottom paint, won't tear up the gel coat like soda

Very nice, I'm guessing a 351 Ford? That should work real good!! Congrats!!

It's a 302.
We just got back. Wow thus thing rides nice. There was decent chop today and it slices right through it. No slamming. It was even pretty dry. I did have a couple of issues. It wouldn't pass 3000rpm. At half throttle it reaches 2800-3000 rpm and cruises at about 30mph. If I give it full throttle rpms stay the same but the motor sounds strained. It also shut off a few times when idling in the channel. I had the carb rebuilt but I think it still needs work. Overall I'm very happy. |

Nice classic you got there congratulations! I just recently removed three layers of bottom paint from my 20 SF. You really only have a couple of options sand it off by hand or blast it off. I tried to restore the gelcoat on mine and did get it to shine but it had pin holes everywhere. I've decided to paint it with epoxy trailer boat paint new gelcoat would be nice but very pricey. Good luck!!
