Shoctor
A 6 K asking price on a 23 that needs everything is not too far off the going rate here in the northeast. If the hull, floors and gunnels seem solid, a transom rebuild will set you back 3 K. Where can you get a 23 with a good transom for 9K total? Dink

Pass on it. Or, make an offer a few thousand less. You will either bust your ass repairing it yourself while spending a lot of $ or you'll just pay a hell of a lot more $ for someone to do it for you. Keep looking. They are out there. You have to be on the search and ready to pull the trigger instantly - or you will lose it.

Good luck

Literally have cash in hand..... Also forgot to add this boat was used commercially stringers cut into etc etc. Water in the bilge outside stringers from some hack job repairs. Looked abused and put away wet for quite some time. My basis for getting away from this was the asking price and the owner not willing to go down. Way I figured it.. $3k for trailer $3k for transom. $3K for paint/other hull repairs. $1500 to mount engine and new steering system. Add on the $6 K firm asking I am at $16,500. I have already looked at several potters either recently done or done in last 10 years in way better shape with trailer and newer vintage motor. I feel I would be throwing good money after bad. When I could but another recently done sell the motor put my new 4 stroke on and sell the privateer with the motor from seacraft to recopup some money and be ahead of the game.

I put a 250 4Stroke on a 1984 23CC Seacraft which is the same weight as your 225. The boat sits the same as it did with a 225 2Stroke. Here are some numbers with the 16X21.5 prop from the other week. You will really like the 225 on that boat.

3700- 24 knots
4000- 26.5 knots
4200- 28 knots
4500- 31.7 knots
5000- 34.6 knots
5500- 38 knots
5900- 40.9 knots
