Ted, Not sure what year your boat is but i am assuming it is like mine (1986) and the livewell is below the deck. The water level will only rise as high as the waterline of the boat. The problem is, if your waterline is ABOVE the level of the top of your livewell, it will overfill. I'm not sure what kind of engine and weight you are dealing with, but i took my livewell completely out and went with an above deck unit. Of course, it will not be self filling and you will have to use a pump, but at least your boat won't sink.
