Unless you want to have the ability to switch back and forth between the leaning post and the captain's chairs, I would suggest ditching the pedestals and getting a leaner that has four smaller (maybe 1.5" dia) legs at the edges. That floor space under the leaner is very valuable for storage and we all know that in boats, making the most of your space is an absolute must. Retaining the pedestals will prevent you from getting a nice 72 qt. cooler or a portable fuel tank in there.

That's what I plan to do.
