Default how NOT to make electrical connection

this is a client's rig:

i'm doing a few upgrades - one is installing a radar set - i was shocked to find what i did...

the electronics were fed power and ground via 2 12g wires - the leads to the vhf,gps and fish finder were just twisted together,and crimped to these wires - no heat shrink,nothing - the vhf ground fell out,when i touched it - very glad the owner was at the shop to see that...

connections should be heat shrink sealed.also,when dealing with a situation like this,it's best to use buss bars,for both power and ground - then atach leads to these...
