IMO, that's too high. My earlier post of est 5,670 lbs was the reasonably loaded boat AND trailer total.

A Ford F150 or Chevy 1500 (full size - 1/2 ton) pickup will do just fine. A Tahoe, Suburban, or Expedition are good choices too. I have pulled my 23' with all those mentioned -- no problems and mine is heavier than a 23' CC. Also, my trailer brakes (only on one axle) are kinda iffy too. A newer Tundra is more like a 3/4 Ton class pickup and will work even better although depending on load may be over kill.

I think we tend to over estimate the weights of these boats due to their quality build and our own bias.

The actual dry weight (without engine) of a 23' CC is only 2650 lbs. Sceptre is 2800 lbs
