Well Tango, I don't really think the floatation style bracket is going to do anything for you in respect to "going shallow". I am not sure how much draft you are used to having but you can expect that you will run a few more inches even with a floatation style bracket. There is a guy in the Goulds area, down towards Homestead, Dolphin Boats. You have probably heard of them. I have seen the boats he builds. He uses a very short bracket, not a floatation bracket though. It has a setback of about 12 inches. He also sets his boats up with jackplates with the brackets. Nice setup if you are looking to go shallow, as you say. You may want to speak to him about doing that type of setup if that is your concern.
