Default Re: Evinrude E-Tec Engines.

I haven't seen a lot of E-tecs, but a friend of mine has a 225 on a 2390 Hydrasport. In general the motor has been o.k. He has had it back to the dealer 3 times. They changed the lift pump( part of the fuel delivery system), that solved one issue. He was only getting 50-60 hrs. out of a set of spark plugs. The dealer tried a couple things with no improvement. Their last solution was changing to a different temp. thermostat, now he gets 100-120 hrs. out of his spark plugs. He's a giude so he wracks up a lot of hours, the motor was new this spring and I guesstimate he has 500+ hrs.on it. Better than a Ficht but still a few bugs to iron out.
