I used ½” marine plywood and it worked out just fine as well. If I had to do over again AND I was concerned about weight I would use composite material where you walk and use plywood where you have to screw things into the deck like a t-top, leaning post, and the CC. the composite materials are great for walking but screwing and holding is another story unless the through bolt and that’s not always a option.
