I have 225 EFI Merc 20" shaft on my 73 20' and it is far more than enough. In cool weather and good water im at 69 mph with 2 guys and 3/4 full fuel. Word to the wise it will start to walk on it chines, be careful. But you can win some races that is for sure!!
I have to eat my words a freind of mine has a old 2.5 200 merc.,very old 1992, runs like a top and he is trading me in exchange for spaying the sides of his boat with Awl grip in snow white with a red stripe thats not my dream engine but it will for now [Get Err Dunn] any ways I still got my 27 jupiter when I want to go realy waste gas.
