YES, weight should be on the rear bunks.Once you have the boat centered, the forward bunks are placed up against the hull for a guide

BTW: Ask Forum member "Sanzo" about improper forward buck placement on his 23'. Mike @ Wildfire Marine had to perform major repairs to his hull
