Default Re: New Guy Here with Master Angler Questions.

For what its worth, I've got a 79 MA with 99 Johnson 175. I absolutely love the boat, and hope I never have to part with it. Bought in 1996, with rigged 200 Black Max. Paid 6K, and blew motor first trip out. River tested like a scalded dog, only to find out it had a freshly replaced head gasket. Oops.

1999 rebuilt transom and repowered. Didn't have knowledge of this site back then or I would have raised transom to 25". Live and learn. If you can sea trial, it is so worth the 100 miles in fuel. BUT BRING CASH! You will not come home without it! Best of luck.

BTW, tell your wife "This may be the last boat we'll ever have to buy." (As long as she doesn't mind the 5 gallon bucket!) Part II.
