Thanks guys ..... Every time I'm out I always take pics and really enjoy the looks and the boat
And yes those old OMCs or evinrudes are really low profile and gives it that look... They are actually big back there and dont have a great turn on my steering... thinking about upgrading to a single 250 Evinrude E-tec Or Twin 200s or 150s Need to get some more money together. Boat is rated at 400hp... Last edited by Sea Addict; 10-30-2011 at 04:45 PM. Reason: add more info |

Is it rated for 400 or 500 HP?

I believe Potter 23's were rated at 400 and the SIC/CSY 23's were 500 (my dad's '82 Sceptre is 500). Check out the '79 brochure in the literature section...it says 400 whereas the '82 brochure shows 500.

500 hp would be insane, would have to do close to 70 , if it could handle the weight of todays motors?

I don't have a brochure nor do I see it in the literature section. A couple of years ago someone here had capacity plates made (and I installed on my '73) and they have 14 persons, 500 HP.

The catalogs appear to be missing sections, but the '75 brochure references 400hp as does the specification sheet in that section of the site. I do know for a fact the post-Potter 23's went to 500hp though.
