Just replace wood where rod holders were and front bow cleats and any other rotten wood. Leave in the wood that is good to go. Helps keep the top side smooth. Try not to leave it laying around w no wood in it for to long cause it will be hard to get it back smooth and straight, topside that is. 3/4" is what I went back w on my MA. Filled in holes w cabosil/resin and 1.5oz matt where holes were bigger.
