Reasonable decision, good reasoning, and the 23 does ride great. I can't fault, but, for sure, you are underestimating the difference in ride. On a long trip, the difference in how you feel is huge.

The day Sandman was in a 25, I was running along side. Forecast was 4-6 and I thought it was accurate. It was ugly and confused. I had my tabs up, running mostly straight into it at just under 20 knots and the boat was occasionally jumping almost out of the water but landing with no bang. Put the tabs down, slow down to 17 - 18 knots and I could have run to Bimini ( 60 miles), mostly sitting down. I'm way too old to try that in a 23.
