Daytona does have a larger homeless population than other places in Florida, not sure why.

Debate or not, I buy ethanol free fuel for my lawnmowers and my boat. But around here yes it is more expensive at the docks, so I got to a gas station that has a seperate ethanol free pump.

Glad you are enjoying yourself and your boat. I like to think that we are more friendly because more of us are Christians than other parts of the country. Around my area there is a church on every block, lol.

Regardless of the reason, though it is nice that people help each other, give fishing advice and are generally more friendly.

first time I went to riverbreeze park - just to check it all out,i was walking around and a gentleman was pulling his mako flats boat up the ramp.that gentleman said hi to me and proceeded to tell me all about his trip, what he caught, right down to drawing on a piece of scrap paper where he was fishing, and where he mainly fishes in the lagoon
I thanked him !

another older gentleman was walking around,he greeted me and gave me an incredible amount of advice on the mosquito lagoon area.

first time I fished that area on the maverick, when I got back to the ramp - a gentleman asked me how I did - he told me of a little know technique to catch grouper - gag grouper in that area

I can not believe how people down here share so much information !

fishing the ponce inlet in the maverick, got back to the ramp @ dark - a pontoon boat was dead - dead batteries,i offered him a quick tow around the island to his house/dock - towed him around, after we got there - I thought the guy was going to offer me a kidney, just for helping him out !

You will be "Crackerfied" before you know it..

All of the boat ramps, parks and piers on the east side of the county
are some of the finest in the state !

They are still free for now.. New Smyrna has been tossing around the idea
of charging for the parking.

River Breeze Park was one of the parks that was funded by the Port Authority while I was serving as chairman.

Glad you found a slip / dry stack for the Topaz..

I keep the No Bones at Inlet Harbor when the "Rays" show up in the spring
for fast access !

Tommy Paris and No Bones are on to something, Senior Pelicano. Things seem to slow down a little when you get away from the Metropolis's. There are little pockets of Southern Hospitality in Miami, Orlando and Tampa but for the most part they are trying to operate in a "New York Minute". In places like Holly Hill, Cedar Key, Sebastian, Punta Gorda, Flagler Beach, Goodland, Arcida, Branford and Crawfordville people seem to be willing to "take time to be nice". Don't judge too quickly and take time to smell the night blooming jasmine and listen for the whippoorwill, while you sip on a sweet tea.
It's all good Jimbo, but be careful, that Southern Hospitality is contagious - but I think a big dollop of it is good for the soul.

Most of the uptight people in my area are part time foreign residence or just yankees that haven't acclimated yet. It takes a little time for them to adjust...
