I know everybody seems to be reluctant to transom R&R from the outside but I think you get a much better result. Trying to save a 40+ year old outer skin with 50 patched holes in it is not a great foundation to start with IMHO.

This was kind of an in and out i guess? Saved having to wrap the outside of the boat! Plus it kept everything basically in shape. I like to put an inch or 2 of an outward curve in too, easier to fair...

What do you guys do about the HIN when you do the transom from the outside? Owner before me did mine from the outside but left the top right corner of the outer skin to save the HIN. Can I cut it off and have someone restamp the transom? My first build so thanks in advance.

I use an engraver between the primer and paint stages...
