On the outboard hull, two different outboards were tested a 300hpdi and an ETEC (300??). My source said they eventually broke the porta bracket launching the boat with the ETEC. I don't know the top end, but I know they wrote a Matlab program to monitor a bunch of sensors (including speed). Supposedly they picked up some speed on the top end when they added steps to that hull. Hawaii has huge swells and nasty wind chop. The job was to collect data at all different speeds in different configurations, then make modifications to the hulls and retest.
