i have twin 150 200 fichts that are good to me. That being said if I could get 4k each for mine with controls, tanks, props id sell them tommorrow.

You wanted advice right? My advice is that you could find that motor cheaper due to the (mostly false) bad reputation they have.

I always notice fichts for sale and they are usually a tough sell.

You might see them for cheaper, but do u see them being sold by a dealer with only 350 hrs that has done all the maintenance on it?

For the past year, i've been looking at the prices that outboards sell for, and some prices are just rediculous on outboards that have over 700hrs on them. It also greatly depends on were you live. Prices in the north east are deffinately more expensive than those in the south.

I don't think i got the deal of my life on this motor, but i also don't think i got ripped off.

btw...the nada value is 5500 or so i believe.

You do have a point w/ the dealer. I anticipate a problem getting good $ for my Fichts when I sell so I thought Id have credibility offering advice.

The ones still running are good motors and said to be better than etecs fuel burn wise

NADA values are way way off. Their values are based on straight depreciation of the original value (and factor nothing else).

Look up a 1975 23 seacraft for example . . . $1,680 average retail price. Is that even close to the average retail for these boats???

That being said . . . I did sell my 1999 150 ficht . . . for $2500 (controls, rigging, 2 props, engine stand). It had a little over 150hrs. 2001 motor is much much better.

I guess i just didn't mind paying a little extra for the "dealer" part of it. I know that the dealer i bought it from is a very reputable dealer and have a great reputation. I also know that if you have one that runs, its a great engine.
As i said before, we have 2 2000 150's in the family, and they haven't given us a single problem.
I also have been looking for quite some time now, and i haven't seen that many fichts for sale in my area, or any other newer outboards...especially within 30mins driving distance, which this one is.

NADA values are deffinately way off on very old boats and outboards that have been rebuilt, or other work put into them, but i'd think that the newer outboards and boats are pretty easy to give a value to b/c most haven't had more money poured into them...get what i'm sayin?

Is it true about the fuel burn compared to the etecs? I'd figure that the etec had better burn numbers.

As long you feel you got a good deal its a good deal.
By the way its your money and sometimes looking for a better deal may cost you more money.. Old saying YOU SNOOSE YOU LOSE ..Shipping for some reason turn into a way to make extra money.
