Re: HP on a 20ft CC
When I say shallow I don't mean 3-7 inches, I am just hoping to get around 10-12. Looking through some older threads I have read to expect 16inches without flotation and 10 to 12 with.
If I am wrong on this someone tell me. |

Re: HP on a 20ft CC
You are wrong on that. Sorry but the bracket won't do that for you. If you want that, you need a flats boat.....The bracket will only offset some of the difference from the weight of the motor hanging out back.

Re: HP on a 20ft CC
Easy John, I am only going by what I am reading
http://www.classicseacraft.com/cgi-b...c;f=1;t=000355 I still thing after the heavy inboard is out and having a lightweight motor a positive flotation bracket will help my draft. Still just my thoughts and I could be wrong, though I don't think so |

Re: HP on a 20ft CC
Well, it depends on what model you have but, from the ones I have seen down here in Miami, outboards only, they loose about 2 inches. mine draws 14 right now with the bracket. The original spec calls for 12. If you are removing an inboard, remember you are then adding the weight of the motor, bracket, etc, to the tail end of the boat where the inboard was more centered. Just my thoughts, nothing more.
I would love to see some pictures.... John

Re: HP on a 20ft CC
John,
I don't think you would want to see picture of the beast right now as it is in pretty rough shape (cosmetics) Hull is sound along with transom, just needs to be filled in. Here is a link though I have it on a trailer now with mildew gone. I will be uploading some more pics in the future as soon as I fill transom. http://members.fishingworks.com/tangofniro/photos.cfm Thanks John for your input all is welcome. |

Re: HP on a 20ft CC
Hey Guys,
I'm some what of a new member, and I only check this site every few weeks, but let me fill you in with what I'm doing. My 74 20cc had a leaking fuel tank and a rotten transom. I've removed the tank and the transom replacement is nearly complete. I've opted for a full transom and I've ordered a B-Bracket which should be ready the end of this week. The hull was yellow with blue bottom paint that was poorly applied way too many years ago. I've removed the bottom paint and I'm in the process of painting the bottom of the hull white and the hull sides fighting lady yellow. I still have some glass work and cosmetics to complete before I'm ready to bolt on the bracket. I have pics, but I'm not sure what address to send them, please point me in the right direction. Also, I haven't decided on a new motor. I'm think seriously about the Suzuki 140 4-stroke, any thoughts? Thanks for any and all input, and I'll promise to be a more regular member of the board. Lloyd

Re: HP on a 20ft CC
Captain Lloyd - you can e-mail pics to Trayder admin@classicseacraft.com and he gets them up in batches or you can e-mail them to me john@theboatzone.com and I tend to get them posted quick but I forget 1 in 5 requests
Good luck - looking forward to seeing the progress. How are you painting the hull?

Re: HP on a 20ft CC
Hi Lloyd,
I would love to see some pictures of your boat. Would you email me some? Johns9163@aol.com... B-Bracket makes a good product. Nice stuff and the guys over there are always willing to work with you. Which bracket did you opt to get? What is the HP rating on the bracket itself? I am not really fond of the Suzuki myself but, I heard rumor that those 140 4 strokes have Bombardier parts in them now. Not sure if that is all correct but, if they do, I guess they are starting to get their act together now. If you want some of your pics posted on here, email them to admin@classicseacraft.com and ask Trayder if he will post them for ya. Otherwise, if they are on another web page, just post the link or, use the UBB to get them up on here. John

Re: HP on a 20ft CC
John - I think what you heard was that Bomb was rebadging the Susuzki 4 strokes as Johnsons to compensate for their corporate emmissions ratings.
All those (or at least the bigger ones ) pretty white 4 stroke Johnsons are Suzukis. The few people I know that have the 4 strokes love them. And a lot of the commercial guys here on the bay have switched to them too. They enjoy a pretty good rep here in the NE ...
