tried to send you the following but your email system send no spam!

Ebeach / Mark

Thanks for sending me the info on the Vancouver Seacraft 20 - I have been looking at the boat but the engine is shot - the hull was refurbished and not done well - the finish on the paint is really quite poor and the guys that are selling it do not have the best track record I have been told - (refurbished boats falling apart etc) this is of course hearsay and I have seen fairly decent work from them.

The problem is they have no history on the boat and they want CAD 14,500 not a penny less - that is USD 9,000 and after work and new power I am into the USD 20,000 range for a decent boat - all of which I can get out of Florida (and get a trip out of it!).

My concern is the transom - even if I bracket the boat I will not trust that transom and will have to redo it. Better to buy a complete project rather than a quasi project boat.

There is one in (20) California (not a master angler but the standard config) with an i/o which has been dry stored.

They want USD 4,000 for it - the engine / outdrive is fairly new and I can probably get a season out of it and then bracket / redo the transom (which would already be closed).

I will let you know how I get on - thanks for keeping me informed.

Rgds

Mark, Thanks for the info on my email.

I’m struggling with a decision on a 74 sf20’ I/O model, no engine or out drive. The rest of the boat is super clean. All three hatches need re-coring, but the deck is solid. Console is missing all controls and gauges, but again very clean. All for $4k

All it needs is: Engine, bracket, rigging, electrical, bilge pumps, batteries, and trailer. Did I forget anything?

Question, When bracketing the engine, would you need to increase the length of the trailer? I imagine the fulcrum point would remain at the transom, but the CG would be further back? Could I use a 20’ trailer with a bracket??

Has anyone thought of fabricating their own bracket? Is there a science to it? Is it Penny wise and pound foolish?
