Default New Evenrude unvieled at Miami

Does anyone know more about the Evinrude line of E-Tec outboards introduced yesterday at the Miami boat show?

The Evinrude E-Tec Engines are a DI Two Stroke. It uses 50% less oil then current DI engines and 75% less then current carb. 2 strokes. To get this oil savings e-tec oil must be used along with a EMM that a dealer must program to let it know its using e-tec oil. THe E-tec also puts out 80% less carbon monoxide at idle then current 4 stroke outboards. It is also whisper-quiet thru out the rpm range. With fully-stratified fuel burn you get start up within one revolution. The 90 e-tec is is 100 lbs lighter then the current 4 strokes in the same hp. range. Plus the engine has such heavy duty parts along with tight tolerance's there is no break in. Full speed out of the box. The smaller ones will be out around July and the Bigger ones by 2005.

Thanks for the great info Joe. How are they able to shave off 100lbs from a 90 hp 4 stroke. I assume you would be talking sub 300lb range which is back to the old carbed motor weights. Look forward to any other info you could give us on these "super green" motors.
