Default Re: Ficht 200 vs Hpdi 200

The 200 yamaha HPDI does not weigh 570. The 225 and 250 hpdi weigh that. The 200 hpdi is a 2.7 liter which weigh something like 470 lbs vs the 200 evinrude which is 3.3 liter weighs 530lbs. The new evinrude are great but in this catogory the Yamaha is the winner in my opinion. The 200 evinrudes are 225 and 250 just detuned. The yamaha is the same as their 150 and 175 hpdi. The HPDI yamaha are amazing engines. I would vote for them. They will give you better fuel economy than the 200 rude and only 1 mph or so less in speed. I would vote for twin 175 rudes before I put 200 rudes on. The 200 rude is just too heavy, if you go with the rudes then go with the 250s because it is the same as the 200 just a different program. And the 200,225,250 have a 60 amp alt but only put out 35 amp to the battery because the engine takes the rest before it hits the battery. Merc has the 60 amp, yama the 50 amp and rude the 35 amp.
