135-150-175 Evinrude are the same, 135-150 mercs are the same. 150-175-200 yamahas are the same, 150-200-225 suzuki 2 stokes are the same, 150-175 johnsons are the same. In order from lightest to heaviest the johnson are the lightest, then Evinrudes, then Mercs, then yamahas, then suzuki is the heaviest. If you decided to go with a company always get the highest power in the class. If you are going to buy a 135 Evinrude you may as well go for the 175 because the only difference is the power and the computer program.

On Johnson and Evinrudes the 90 and the 115 are different blocks. The same weight but different porting in the cylinder. The 135 and 150 are the same blocks but the 175 is different. Same weight just different porting. The 150 has much more torque than the 175. With this style boat the 150 is a much better pic over the 175. I would almost bet that the boat would have a top end speed of about the same but the take off and acceleration would be better with the 150. I believe I am going to try all three engines during the year and post the results. A 115, 150 and 175.
