You guys might want to see if you can find some Silverhawk guys. Although it pains the factory to admit it, they are decent knockoffs of 23 Seacrafts (more than a striking resemblance ) You might get the fuel numbers... Fishup - Bills Outboard on 3A across from Hewits has Silverhawks - might be worth an ask in their too (just act tire kickerish)

Guys - welcome to the site

I HAVE DECIDED TO GO WITH THE 300 MPI HORIZON INSTEAD OF THE 320. THE REASON IS THAT THE EXTRA WEIGHT IN THE BACK OF THE BOAT AND THE FUEL CONSUMPTION DID NOT COME CLOSE TO THE EXCUSE TO HAVE THE EXTRA 20 HP. AS FOR THE ENGINE FITTING IN THE COMPARTMENT. IT SHOULD FIT FINE IF NOT I HAVE A GLASS MAN THAT CAN MAKE IT FIT. I HAD AN OLD TRS DRIVE AND A MERC. TRANSMISSION ON THE BACK OF A FORD 265HP, SO I AM SURE THERE WILL BE SOME TYPE OF SIMPLE MODIFICATIONS. THE COVER IS THE LEAST OF MY WORRIES SINCE IT CAN BE EASILY FIXED.DID YOU GET AN IDEA ON THE GPH ON ANY RANGE OF RPM'S.I AM TRYING TO KEEP DETAILED PICTURES OF THE PROJECT FOR A REFERENCE PORFOLIO FOR FUTURE SEACRAFT RESTORERS SO I NEED TO FIND OUT HOW TO POST THIS ON-GOING PROCESS ON THE SITE. IF NOT I CAN SET UP A SEPERATE SITE WITH A LINK.AS FOR THE RESTORING PROCESS IT IS THE HARDEST PAST TIME PROJECT. I HAVE EVER DONE BUT I HAVE TO ADMIT I AM LOVING IT. DID YOU FIND A GOOD PLACE TO FIND THE ENGINE KIT AT A GOOD PRICE.

A buddy of mine has a 24 Silverhawk with the 300 MPI and Bravo 3. Although I don't know his fuel burn numbers, he cruises anywhere from 26-30 knots (3400-3800 rpm) and a WOT of 40 knots (4400 rpm?). I believe this is a heavier boat than the 23 Sceptre, so you may realize a higher top end with the same config.

Fishup, you shouldn't have trouble fitting the 300 MPI since it is a 350 Chevy block. If you really want to see a tight squeeze, ask Chrs Downey about his 23 Sceptre with a 454 .

Rich you made the right move in going with the 300 over the 320. You will not notice a difference in running these engines in your boat. THe MerCruiser 5.7 MPI is the best package out there right now.
