The Seamark bracket used for twin engines if I recall has something like 890 lbs of positive buoyancy .... but I also believe the bracket is also wider to accommodate the second engine... but I don’t know if that would be to wide for your application/boat

Yep That was the Mainstay of the Bahama runners way back ,twin 70's I would be concerned about the bracket then twins hangin on, lotta weight !,(20')

Thanks guys - well the deal is now done

Bought a CSY built ( I know its not a potter but better than a tracker in my opinion) 1982 Master Angler.

Also bought the 2 x 90 Fichts and am now scoping out the bracket with the most flotation capacity.

Got a great deal on the boat - and a decent deal on the two motors.

Intend to mount a forward slanting Radar Arch on the boat in order to allow for a full enclosure in the winter and open in the summer - her in the Northwest when the sun is out you want it - when it rains you want cover so I want to go with this set up.

I want to copy it from the nicest 23' i have ever seen and one which you guys have also seen before.

Sounds like you should give Don Herman (Seamark) a call. He's planning on putting the bracket on his 20'. I'm not sure about twin's.

If your worried about breaking down with a single engine then I would install a kicker engine on it. I run a V-6 Evinrude on my 20 ft seacraft. I made my transome 25" and its the best thing I did. I would not want to see twin V-4s on this boat. Even with a full transome and bracket. From what I have seen I would not run a single 90 on this rig. A 115 would do fine. A 150 would be even better. I would make the transome 25 inch, run a 115 or 150 Di, Opti or HPDI engine and install a 9.9 or 15 4 stroke on a kicker bracket, just incase something happens to the main engine. This is just my 2 cents.

That forward facing arch looks nice but it essentially shuts down fishing and negates the center console and might as well gat a cabin (in my opinion). If you really want to fish get a T-Top and a full/extended enclosure / bow dodger. If you want to CAST, some people make a shortened T-Top that reduces the amount of space taken...

Hey Don Battin - is it possible/worth it to shorten a stainless steel top?

The Arch thing .... For a 20' boat it might be a bit much .... Plus as John says you lose the benefit of a center console fish boat .... but to each his own.... I doubt that 23 has seen any blood on its teak decks and covering boards .... well maybe the owners due to his wife beating him for spending so much on that restore [img]images/icons/tongue.gif[/img] [img]images/icons/grin.gif[/img] [img]images/icons/tongue.gif[/img]

That 23 will end up being a tender on some guy's 125' yacht, that's all.

I fished on a 32' Intrepid CC with a full arch in August and it was a pain in the neck getting around it with a fishing rod. If you're not into fishing, you'll be fine, but I wouldn't recommend it for a fishing setup. Even if you only troll or bounce jigs, trying to work a fish around the arch can be tricky. IMO it may also make a 20' look a little top heavy. I'd go with the setup that John recommends.
