I'm 93.7% sure Starboard is HDPE with extra UV protection. Seaboard is the same (I think)

Wow, thanks for the replies!

I am looking to redo my transom door and transom covering boards from the teak that is there now in in need of attention to something a little more durable.

Have any of you replaced your transom door, those of you with notched transoms that is?

I'd be interested to hear what you think of starboard or something similar as a suitable product for this task....

Hey Hooper

If you go with Starboard, Make sure you use a least 3/4" because a piece the size of a transom splash will tend to warp or bow. [img]images/icons/shocked.gif[/img]

Hooper,
We've got Starboard as a transom gate on the Sceptre. The previous owner made a bi-fold gate out of varnished plywood, which looked like crap after a couple seasons. My father replaced with Starboard 3 seasons ago and it looks great. He went with 3/4" because it is now one-piece, so when folded down you step on it and it's not flat on the deck. I don't have any good pics of it to post, but if you're ever in the Hanover area let me know and I'd be happy to show you.

If you have an application that requires an adhesive that will adhere to King Starboard, 3M has a product called "Scotch-Weld DP8005" that is supposed to work. I recently purchased some, but I have not used it yet. It was 1 of only 2 products I located that claimed to be capable adhering to this type of plastic. I am not sure how soon I'll use it, but I will try to remember to post comments on how it performs.

This created a motor splash well. I used rubber like door insulaltion around the edge as a gasket. My season ended before i could use it on the water, but I tested it by quickly pouring 5 gallons of water in the well. The plastic didn't bow at all and only a little water dribbled by the gasket.

I guess I should have been a bit more clear. I have a bifold door made of teak and figure i'll redo it but using something like the starboard. Thanks for the input, maybe I'll look to using 3/4".
