I've got the LCX 15 MT on mine, and I like the unit. With the Mapcreate 6 software it is really easy to download maps to MMC cards, and you can download upgrades from the Lowrance site as they become available (which is pretty often).I chose to shoot thru the hull, because transom x-ducers that I've had in the past seemed to lose signal at hi speed.Of course you can't get temp/ speed but i don't really use the temp for inshore fishing and the GPS speed is there anyway.Would have liked the color unit, but this was a gift.

Miles, they didn't replace the 15mt, they replaced the 16ci with the 19ci. The new color units will be available for the retail market in Feb. The only changes they made was a little faster processor. So you 16ci guys who spent big bucks last year don't panic. I tell everyone I swear that 16ci is more powerfull than my first computer

I've had my units back to the shop too. And Lowrance always replaces them with brand new units....I really don't think their any less reliable than than anything else out there. Every finder I've ever owned has been back to the shop more than once.

Finster,

Have you found any pricing on the new 19ci?

Otto, it's going to be the same as the 16ci, go to http://www.lowrance.com/Marine/default.asp
and check out the 104c... looks like it kicks butt to me
I believe that's going to be a couple hundred more.

Alex,
The Furuno 1650-DF is a excellent choice, but wait for the new 1650-W/1850-W series, they
will be on the market soon, the will have DGPS and WAAS built in, also will be able to search
between formats to give you best fix. The new units will also have a new AR coating on the display that will improve daylight viewing. Its much better than the "Man And Machine" mod that furuno reccomends.

Talked to someone who has now sent his LCX16 back to the shop/Lowrance 4 times, and my friends new LCX15(discontinued model) blacked out on him last weekend(I see why they discontinued it). Great service though .

Well easy come easy go. I just got my Garmin 2006c color plotter 2 weeks ago and decided it was too small. Especially since I chose to get the sounder black box. The split screen will probably mush things up a bit. Soooooo, I found a guy that traded me my 2006c for his new in the box 2010c $ a few hundred bucks. Well, I just got the 2010c in the mail and it looks great. The screen is a full 10 1/2 inches wide. Now on to another problem. It WON'T FIT ON MY DASH! I need to reeigineer my dash next month and have it installed. I will let you know how it works.
