The wedge below the deck compound glob is a piece of glassed in wood, to give support to the tube.

Yes, I knocked out the Plastic thru-hull. I did not make the whole any larger. When I mixed up the resin with chopped glass and milled fibers, I put in enough resin to make it pourable. You can wiggle the PVC to get in there and pour it.
