Default Leak

I need some help here. I have a 23' CC with an outdrive. I have sprung a leak somewhere and can't seem to find it. I have ruled out the drive there definately isn't any water coming through here. Also I have ruled out the actual hull so I have come to the possible conclusion that it is the deck drains. How can I be sure and where would I see that water coming in? Also I have ruled out the one through hull that I have (washdown/baitwell). Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Regards your leak, I have spent the last 9 months getting to know my 78 sceptre that I have been rerigging. My deck drains were cracked where they came through deck. It trickled through my stringer forward of the transom. The pvc flange cracked at the junction with the deck. Temporary fix was to insert small piece of pvc pipe into drain and 5200 to drain pocket. It stopped the leak. As you end up with wet feet thanks to the drains I insert rubber 3/4 plugs to the outboard side when fishing the boat. Had to make starboard earmuffs for each side of my outboard to keep the waves out of the splash well. Wish I knew of this site before I started It save lots of guesswork.

NJ fisherman-

I would first try removing and then reseating each thru hull with 5200. Then, if your boat is still leaking....move on to the deck drains and replace or reroute them as necessary. By doing it systematically, you'll be able to isolate the problem.

Good luck.

Ed I have one through hull and it is visible and brand new and dry. I wish it was that though.

Barnaby how low is your bow eye? Mine is way above the water line so I know it isn't that.

Thanks guys I will keep plugging along here.

Is the boat in the water all of the time? When do you see the water, once the boat has been sitting for a few days? or is it dry then you run it and then see water.. I had a problem were the bilge would be dry(trailer days)I'd put the plug in launch the boat. Take off and the next time I set the boat down the bilge pump would come on.. Pump it out. and it would happen twice every trip then stop. Problem was, when I would wash the boat(every trip)water was getting into the side compartments and laying on the outside stringer in the low point of the hull(no limber hole in the stringers). When I would bring hte boat on plan the water would run aft and into the bilge center section. drove me nuts till I figured out what it was. Added limber hole and solved the problem

Just a thought, but when you checked your outdrive did you do it with the drive tilted up? Sometimes those cracks in the bellows are real small and hard to find.I saw one that didn't leak when it was down, but did when tilted up.Maybe just something to double check.

Boat is on a lift the water is salt so it has to be coming in somewhere. The bellows is brand new it seems to only be leeking when the boat is at rest. I am thinking that it is the deck drains.

Thanks
