what is the function of the keel stringer?

Was called the Overnighter.Potter says it was the last one he designed and they only built about a couple dozen.

Does it have purpose while underway? Or is that what the other four beefy stringers are for?

Was not necessary when underway but I'm sure it didnt hurt either. It was primarily to stiffen the keel area that rode on the trailer rollers.
