Default 4 Sale- Release Steering Wheel with Suicide Knob

Hi Gents-

When I was in Florida in April, Jason and I each bought 13 inch Release Aluminum Steering Wheel with the Suicide Knob. To make a long story short, I tried to put it on my Mako today, and it is too short for a tall guy like me. The existing Mako steering wheel is 15 inches and with the 13 inch Release Wheel I had trouble reaching it.

Anyway, my loss is your gain. First $120 (plus shipping takes it). Includes wheel, suicide knob and center cap. This wheel retails at around $160.

Hey Mark-

Jason can correct me if I am wrong, but i am pretty sure it is RELEASE MARINE , not Reflex.

Go to www.releasemarine.com and check them out.

Don't you have one too?

How is the boat coming? Did Mike at Wildfire finish it yet?

Hey Ed,

Maybe they use the same molds or something. When I bought mine at Birdsall they called it a Reflex wheel in their catalog...

I spent some time in Savannah this past week (where Release Marine is based) on a boat that indeed has a Release wheel and they do look pretty similar.

Sorry it didn't work out for you. Based on seeing it in use on The Other Tom's boat, and in light of his height, I'm surprised that you are too tall for it - I thought he was about the tallest boater I had ever seen

Hey Mark.....maybe you are right.I will have to ask Jason. He'll know for sure.

The console on my Mako is at the right height for someone who is between 5'10 and 6 ft tall. Considering that I am 6'4"...the existing 15 inch wheel is ok to reach, but the 13 inch wheel was too far away. One of these days, I am going to remove the teak toe rail between the console and teh floor, and replace it with a thicker, custom made starboard toe rail. This will help raise the console up a few inches.
