I did a Yahoo search and found many sites devoted to the subject that I would check out before considering a trade in.

Steve-
You and I are on the same boat. My better half almost got ill today while Driving the CAR through the boat yard. No Joke, she is very nervous around boats. I must say she is a trooper and does attempt to overcome her fears. This does backfire, unfortuatly. Last year I promised her I would take her to see some Whales off off P-Town. All was well until we were 3/4 of the way there (32 miles)then the S%&* hit the fan and I think she turned green, dark green that was it a very dark green. We were almost there!! I turned around and back home we went. it got worse I felt awful for her, not a good situation. Did I mention we took the Cape Cod Canal to get to P-Town. Yup my dear better half barfed from one end of the canal to the other. I swear I saw a bicycler fall off his bike trying to see what the compotion onboard was. Poor girl she was sick for 2 days. I was told recebtly that the "pressure" point wrist bands work well. She said she wanted to try them so I will give you a status if they work. |

Steve,
Have you heard of this stuff called motion eaze??? i have (had) the same problem with my wife ... we tried every remedy in the book. one day we were in a boat store in Annapolis and found this stuff. i wasn't a believer until this year when my wife tried it ... all the ingredients for good racing stripes were in place ... chesapeake chop, hazzy, hot, etc. much to my dis-belief there wasn't even the slightest symptom. i think they have a web site at motioneaze.com and the stuff comes with a 100% money back guarantee. Here’s some links that may help.
The Relief band, although not cheap at about $100, is something I'm thinking of getting for the boat as it is something anyone can use if you start to feel sick rather than taking it prior to stepping foot on the boat. The principle behind how it works makes sense and I like that fact that there are no side effect such as drowsiness as with almost all oral/transdermal medications for motion sickness/nausea. Basically stimulates the body to block receptors that cause you to feel nauseous. The one caveat is that every one reacts differently to certain stimuli and this thing may not get you out of trouble .... but like I said I like the principle behind it. As for the spray ..... well that would work like your Dramamine and could make you feel crappy to begin with. Who knows ....when the "wife" hears that the wrist band shocks you out of nausea she might never feel sick for fear of getting a jolt http://www.skysailing.com/spray/index.htm http://www.crewgear.net/product.asp?3=144 [ June 19, 2002, 01:38 AM: Message edited by: Scott ] |

The non-drowsi dramamine works good,as long as you take it a hour before getting in the boat.
