Default Re: New member. What About a New Seacraft 25?

I will run off 25-45 miles in my 23' IF I feel the weather will hold and good water, signs or decent reports can be verified. Last year I was 40 out and came home in a 4-6' following sea with no problem only to burn up my shaft seal in the inlet, but made it in. So you never know. I would say if your gonna go with a 23'or 25' don't buy new and shop around. I love SeaCrafts, but I'm suspicious of the qaulity control in the new boats. If you want a rare 23' inboard version, which I have, there are unfurtunately alot for sale, and some have been sitting in NJ and close by for months. You could pick one up for alot less than you can restore one for$!!. I think Regs are great, but $100,000 or so for 26' CC with outboards? NFW. I'll get a 27' Albemarle with twin diesels for less and fish the deep!

Hey fellas you all make some valid points, but Scott hit it on the head, they are little boats and when it gets nasty you are going to get your butt kicked! As far as who builds the best one for the money, they all are nuts.Think about it,a 25 foot outboard center console for 75k and Jarrett Bay has a 30' Ricky Scarborough,Cummins, electronics and full tower listed for 79k,it's a no brainer if your steamin 60 miles off the beach.

Hi all,

I talked with Scott at length yesterday, and I learned alot, and I think he picked up on where I'm at.

He mentioned Silverhawk, and Sailfish as boats that are modeled after the Seacraft hull design. Upon further investigation of Silverhawk, I found out that they are no longer producing boats, and are owned by Topaz. The NJ dealer I spoke with had one leftover with a Mercruiser inboard/bravo3 sterndrive. He said he didn't know what plans Topaz had for the line, but if they had that 24' in an outboard version, based on what I've heard and the price, I would have seriously considered it.

Sailfish, appears to be more of a price boat, but far be it from me to turn my nose up at a good value, if the quality and resale is there as well. That said, in the class of boats we are talking about, does anybody have any feedback on the 266/238 and sailfish quality in general. Yamaha power is typical for Sailfish, which is a plus in my book. I also like recent Merc Optis as well though.

Thanks, and I do appreciate the fact that this is not a board of Seacraft snobs. I will still give Seacraft a good look, and I hope they produce the high quality boats that you classic guys revere so much.

TG .... Was nice talking with you yesterday.

The Silverhawk thing .... thats interesting.... Its a nice boat .... like I said to you ..and as far as layout and lines ... you cant get to much closer to being a 23 SeaCraft without being a 23 SeaCraft

Wonder if Topaz going to continue the line ??

Still no word from SeaCraft or Bass Pro Shop, but I must say I love that boat!

WHY? It has the range, great ride, with the OptiMax it gets good fuel economy. For the most part if it gets any rougher than the 25' can handle you wouldn't enjoy being out there in the first place. I know y'all are talking about getting caught in bad weather; here 99% of the time in the summer bad weather will be from the south. Land for the most part is north. I can run comfortably in 3 to 5 foot, following, seas at 29 knots (not MPH) and still get just under 2 MPG (about 1.8).

Now if they'd just tell me what's they plan to do?????????????

Just wanted to let you all know that I will be at the show on Friday.

I'll take you seriously, and be at the Seacraft boats at 11.
As far as "showing me how to spend my money"...I'm already pretty good at that, I just need to spend it wisely.

Captn C, how is it going? I hope it works out for you. I will be paying attention as a potential buyer, that's for sure.
