I have both my Racor fuel Separator and the Primer Bulb mounted to the inside of the transom just below the the small transom boxes. They are accessed thru the "pop-out" inspection plates. No problem getting to them but may I suggest you use a S/S mounting bracket and put a little silcon grease on the filter threads, the two gaskets as well as the drain bowl threads. They don't need to be "socked down" just hand tight. I don't get any rust at all plus I change the filter every 50 hours and drain the bulb every tank fill
