Default Fuel line valve question

Hi guys,

Launching my 20' MA tomorrow - just thought of something before I leave - the mechanic was using his own fuel tank when running the motor - I filled the tank but want to know if there is an on / off valve on 20' Seacrafts and if there is where is it as I have not seen one?

Dont want to be searching in the morning - there are salmon to catch instead! Hopefully someone who is smarter than I am can help!

Many thanks

Mark - Vancouver BC

I answered it myself - there is not one (at least that I can find) and I have a major problem with fuel from the tank - to the filter to the motor.

What I did today was buy a Tempo auxiliary 27 Gal tank and connected it directly to the motor - the problem was solved temorarily.

I must say - having not been in a Seacraft for 10 years wow was I impressed again - they really are awesome boats - second to none in this class for ride / strength.

Has anyone had an issue with getting fuel from the tank after a prolonged period of unuse? I could use some advice here before I go to a mechanic and spend a zillion dollars!

Many thanks

Mark

I dont have a twenty ....but things to check in general if you havent already

Does the vent work (vent blocked , vent hose kinked etc)

Fuel delivery line (kinked/ blocked fuel line, primer bulb direction and operation, filters clogged ...Also See if fuel comes out of the tank without the fuel line hooked up to the tank, etc.. )

Fuel pickup in the old tank ( is that clogged inside the tank as a result of above (no fuel out of tank when lines are removed )

Doesn't sound like anything with the motor if the engine runs on an aux tank.

Start eliminating things one by one .... sooner or later you find something ...if not a combination of issues that will not allow good fuel flow

Edit:
After re reading your post ...how old is the fuel i.e. Has it turned to VARNISH !!!!

One thing we discovered on my father's 23 Sceptre a couple seasons ago was a small screen inside the 90 degree fitting that comes out of the tank to the fuel line. After 20 years, it was pretty gunked up. We weren't having any fuel delivery problems, just doing some inspection and came across it, but it may be worth checking out.

Thanks guys - What an idiot I am - the boat had sat for some time and I guess I assumed the fuel in the line would magically get itself to the priming bulb.

After alot of Mount Gay and coke last night it dawned on me to get a small hand pump, bring the fuel up to the primer bulb which would then allow free flow of fuel.

I took three or four gallons out to be disposed and used some fuel treatment in the remaining fuel in the tank - started first time and fuel is freely flowing.

I am a moron.

Thanks for the input though.

Mark
