If you want to save some time, I suggest you try a DA with 1000 or 800 paper on a test area to see how that works. I like to use a water spray when doing it to lubricate and keep the paper from loading up. You don't need to take off much, but it could take forever with a heavy compound. Follow that with a medium compound and a wool pad, then a least 2 coats of wax with a foam pad.

The bottom is another story, but prep is 90% of the job.
