Thanks guys!
Capt Chuck thats funny Billy Bob I sprayed it inside the shop. It helps to have a brother who works for a crane company. I used a 3-M respirator I believe a 6200 series? Full coveralls and hood. Pogden- No thats not the first time. I used to spray kitchen cabinets when I got out of high school. I guess it's like riding a bike something you never forget. Tim- I used duratec on the bracket, transom and inside walls. I used awlgrip primer on the outer hull. I sanded up to 180 grit. I was just too tired of sanding. Had I went up to 220 then it would have reflected like a mirror. I made 5 pases around the boat outside and inner walls. The first coat was a tack coat. Let that sit for 30 minutes then the second coat was a heavier tack coat. Let that sit for 20 minutes then the last three coats were wet coats about 10 minutes between each. The duratec is way cheaper then the awlgrip primer and works just as good if not better. I checked with the duratec rep and he said that you can awlgrip over it. It's a polyester not epoxy primer. For the non-skid I used the Awlgrip brand. Strick

As usual, OUTSTANDING work. I got the pix's yesterday and I checked here and no posted pix's. HeHe
You fired me up. I went and bought the Awlgrip Jet Black today and I got the hull about half blocked with 220gt. I hope to have color by saturday. I'm tired of looking at gray primer.I just wish I had that small of an area to do. HeHe Did you roll the nonskid on? |

Black is beautiful as they say. Cant wait to see it. Yes I rolled the nonskid. Used a garlic salt shaker. Threw away the perforated plastic cap with holes that came with it then I screwed the lid back on and punched some small holes into it with a pick and then applied the nonskid. Rolled over it a second time.

I hope mine comes out that good. I found a guy who works with me at West Marine at night. In the day he is a painter for Bradford Marine (Mega million dollar yachts) in Ft. Lauderdale. He told me that if I do all the prep work he would charge me a flat rate of $25.00 / hour to spray mine with awlgrip. Now all I have to do is decide on the color. How much paint did you use?
