Default another hull i/d ?

ok ive been reviewing some older post about this..and my tag is also covered or perhaps removed not t sure..but my boat number is msz00023b797.now what id gathered from this is that the boat would be a home made registered boat..but mine is registered as a 1974 23 seacraft it says this both on the title and on registration.so does anyone have any thoughts to why i would have these numbers?

Take a close up picture of your hull id on the transom /starboard side and let me see it.

Codfeesh,
That hull ID # was issued by the state of Massachusetts. I have a similar HIN on my '72 Seabird starting with "MSZ". Even though your hull should have a SeaCraft-issued HIN, somewhere along the line it must have been removed (transom replaced?) and the state assigned a new #. Or, you don't really have a '74 and it is pre-1972 when HINs were not required.
