Default Re: how much power do I needed?

You need about 115 horsepower. A 135 or 150 V6 won't go real fast, but the motor won't strain as hard.
On the other hand, there's the old theory that you should put enough HP on your boat to scare your wife into staying home while you go fishing with the guys. If that's where you are, then a 225 would be about right. Figure somewhere around 60 mph with a 2 stroke Optimax or HPDI.
I have even seen a SeaVette with old T-275 Jag block Mercs up in OC, MD. (One of the lower units was blown out)
But then, where would you go to need that kind of speed.?

Jesus liked fishing, too. He even walked on water to get to the boat!

I have a 23 that had twin 235s on it and while I never ran it with those engines I'm confident it would have gone fast on 110 gals but not far
