That reminds me of the time I met some lifelong buddies in Myrtle Beach for some golf. We got to the first tee on day one and we were getting ready to play. My buddy, Larry, dumped his bag upside down looking for golf balls (God knows, we needed them) and a family of mice (Momma and 5 little Mickeys) came tumbling out. They acted very annoyed as the scrambled for cover under the cart. All Larry could manage was "well, that shows you how little I've played. I'm gonna need more strokes".
The moral of the story is that if you have a family of squirls living in your boat and you don't know about it, you need to spend more time on the boat. Simple.

In college, i ran the waterfront at a small yc in Maine. On more then one occassion people would go out to there boats and find raccoons in their cockpits.

Five years ago we were loading our 20 Seacraft cc for a week trip to the keys, I saw the cat (Grunt) running around the deck but she always did that so no problems. Leave around 10:00 in 90 degree weather, drive down to Key Colony but decide to stop at the World Wide Sportsman for lures, 45 minutes later we are back on the road and get home and settled in around 2:00 pm I'm getting ready to launch the boat and I hear a faint scratching sound in the hull, stick my head through the holes for the rods and see this cat wedged between the inner and outer hulls, clearly dehydrated with a glazed look in her eyes. Ended up using a rod to poke her out through the rear storage area where the oil reservoir is. Over 4 hours in 100 +/- degree heat. needless to say kitty spent a great week in the keys having her fill of fresh fish. For some reason will not go near the boat????

That's not the first pussy to be scared away from a fishing boat! My wife had a big tiger cat when we first were married that decided that my boat was a good place to hang out, tear up the seats and generally trash the whole cuddy helm area. He ran away from home! That's my story and I'm sticking to it! scotty.
