Default Repower for 1980 Whaler 15'. Suggestions?

It's confirmed. 1981 Johnson 70 doesn't want to run above 1800 rpm. Bad timer base possibly. Another $100 to find out Stugots! Would like to stay with/as close to 70 hp. as possible. Will travel for leftover. Will install myself. All suggestions welcome. Thanks, Vezo, Part II.

You'll need to call Ed. They've got left overs most of the time that are not listed on the site.

Thank you Dunk. Called a few days ago and they were not competitive on an '05 Yamaha 60 4 stroke. Wanted a 70 hp. but this thing seems to be the best option. Thanks Vezo.

Viso, Check your Italian, last time I checked the meaning of Ungots is ---nothing or those that have nothing, Stugots means those that have everything. Learned that by watching the Soprano's. Tony's 40ft boat had the name Stugots on the back.
So by spending $100.00 and getting the shaft, you came up with Ungots.

Briguy, you may be correct. Removed outboard to retire old dog only to find out exhaust system was 80% clogged inside base of powerhead and leg. Did not even attempt to uncover water jacket. Sold for $400 to friend who refurbishes old, OLD outboards. Getting ready to order '05 Yam. 60 4-stroke with EFI this year. Refurbing entire '77 Whaler hopefully in time for a Rendevous at Bounces Pass/ Beercan Island? Looking forward to dinner at the Bridge Tender. Bring the Seacraft! I know you guys did one in this area a few years ago and found out too late. Would love to come down with the MA. Oh yeah, Presidents weekend. Later, Vezo, Part II.
