thanx scott- i thought you guys were still getting them up there- we used to catch em here end of feb- thru mid march and signalled the start of the season. dont know of anyone who really targets them anymore, its knida touchy subject around here right now targeting birds or slicks out farthur than the 3 mile eez its weird. everyone thinks you are targeting bass and coasties, mrc's are all out trying to catch poachers. anyway, thats another subject- thanx again, craig

I know that a few years back, Russian factory boats with legal State permits ( I believe New Jersey) have been loading up on them. May be why you aren't seeing them down your way. Dink

I haven't heard any reports as of late, back in Dec. before it got cold the head boats were doing prety well on them. It should start up again in May. It's been one of things were you have to be in the right place at the right time, and they move pretty quick so getting a two day old report don't mean squat.

Like Finny said December and January had mackerel plus the weather was cooperating. Last spring they were around...but as I recall a short run and needed to travel good distances.

Do you mean herring and/or menhaden factory boats? I've never heard of Russian mackerel boats before.
