Yep, just as Bobber stated, that's what is known as a "poop-preventer" and is usually used for the first couple years of an engines life (kinda like the way you baby a new car). The shade it provides also helps to keep the engine from overheating in the hot climates and very warm waters where these flats boats are used.

HeHe Yes Chaz thay are. It's a poling platform. You stand on it to get better vishion when site fishing and you pole the boat from there. It's mostly used for catching fish in skinny water.

People do that?!: you have a perfectly good engine and yet opt to POLE a boat.... baffling! Probably by the same people that try to catch fish with chicken feathers tied on a hook when good 'ol Velveeta and night crawlers work so much better -

Mark, I guess I should have looked closer, I would have seen the pole mounts. So I quess the Seagull theory is out.

Really Fellows,That thing is so I have a place to get away from clients that keep asking stupid questions,like,how deep is it?Did you catch them here yesterday?How cold is the water and on and on and on!

the only thing I could think of is for para sailing. But a 30 hp doesn't seem fast enough.
