Well, since that is what I do for a living, and am truly impressed with Seacraft and now an owner, I might just work on this as a winter project. I would like to put it together now, but just prime season and will not have the R & D time. Biggest concern, and I am sorry to my southern brothers, but Southern Fl each day is getting harder and harder to insure boats there. Since my transom redo and bracket install this year, I aslo had concerns reference the insurance. With all the damaging storms, theives and idiots out on the water, I wanted to make sure my improvements would be covered.

I just ordered a survey from "Price Marine Services" in Hobe Sound. They were very professional and did a complete survey of all my improvements. Cost $12 @ foot ($276)

I then sent the survey report to State Farm (my insurance carrier)and they will insure the 1978 SeaCraft for the "Market Value" not the "Replacement Value" of the boat.

Based on this recent survey, the yearly premium cost almost doubled but the insured valve doubled also

I will tell you that the Boat US insurance underwriters are a bunch of idiots ! I was told that I would need a survey of my boat to get the value of it insured. I did this and got an estimated value of $28K.

When I re-contacted them w/ the survey, they said that the boat could not be surveyed fot it value, only for liability because the boat had not been insured for over a year ( while I was doing a refit !!!) I tried to reason with them, but it was really like talking to someone dead from the neck up - I even tried the manager - he was also an idiot. Even if I could, I would not do business w/ them.
