Default Re: to vro or not vro....that is the question....

Several years ago i bought a rebuilt 1997 Johnson 175 HP Ocean Runner. The guy would only warrantee it if I pre-mixed. He claimed that OMC's VRO killed many a good engine. I never found premix to be that bad, expect for two things.
1. Since I premixed at 50 to 1 the Johnson would smoke like a chimmney if I trolled with her a lot.
2. It forced me to only put in gas at good round numbers (like 25 or 50 gallons)

I think I will bag the idea of having oil injection through the VRO setup. I have always premixed and it's not that bad. I just don't trust them at all. Thanks for the help guys! I feel better about this now. Some guys I talked to at a party last night thought I was nuts about getting rid of something that is supposed to make things less of a hassle. They were also guys who can afford to have a motor blow up on them. That just means they get to buy a newer one. I wish I had that type of cashola! Thanks again guys.
