Hello - I've enjoyed the site for a while now. The project boats you've shared are incredible. Though I don't own a Seacraft YET... you have really lit a fire. I'm shopping now for a 23' Classic outboard but could use some advice on which years to be cautious about. I know the Potter-built years are desirable, but what kind of problems surfaced when the company changed hands, and WHEN was that? I've seen a few mid 80's vintage 23's for sale in the NE, but could use some advice about things to look for.
If anyone knows of a good thread in the archives to look at, please point me in the right direction. I haven't figured out the right keywords for an accurate search. |

Hi Catman, thanks for the offer to keep an eye out! I live in Bridgewater but work a lot in Stamford. I enjoy all types of boats, but my only experience with repairing glass is a semi-botched job on a canoe that was run down a dry river(but thats another story). This would explain why I'm not looking for a big project boat, at least not in the fiberglass department. I have seen an ad for a 2002 23 cc in Norwalk, but have heard some negatives regarding the newer Seacrafts from the hull truth.
With over 100 views, I would welcome some more feedback with opinions and/or experiences about transition years for the 23 cc. Thanks guys! |
