transducer
I am buying a 23' SC. Would prefer a "shoot-thru" transducer vs. alternative of transom mount.
Does anyone have experience with "shoot thru's" on a SC 23'. Thx |

Re: transducer
Yes I do.
I have a shoot thru Airmar (P79, I think) on my 23.It's a Garmin 2006C combo unit, and it works fine. I didn't want to go through the trouble of drilling a hole and fairing block, but I also had trouble with transom mounts loosing bottom at high speeds. This works perfect for me at any speed, and easy to install. Sensitivity seems fine but I don't run super deep waters either. Bill |

Re: transducer
I am not recomending what I have done but am astounded at how well it works:
I have a Furuno dual frequency transom mount trinsducer but it is not on the transom. I gooped the bottom of the transducer with 3M 4200 and plopped it square in the middle of my bilge. It holds a reading at speed 25-30 mph and is crystal clear to 250 plus feet. I must be loosing some resolution/sensativity but it has worked great for me. |

Re: transducer
I had a thru hull on my Jupiter and it was ok unless you wanted to get a good temperature read.
